The Baha’is of Mariposa County, California, will be honoring two significant birthdays in NOVEMBER and we would like to invite our friends, readership of the YOSEMITE EXPRESS, patrons and exhibitors of the Yosemite Arts and Crafts Center, and fans of Yosemite Radio to attend and celebrate with us.
On Monday, November 9 at 5 p.m, there will be a brief program honoring the first of our “Twin Trumpet Blasts,” our prophet as known in the West, The Bab (aka The Gate) who was born in 1819 and executed by Islamic government decree in 1850. This will be followed by a community pot luck and socializing.
On Thursday, November 12 at 5 p.m., there will be a brief program honoring the prophet Baha’u’llah (1817-1892) who spent his entire life in service to humanity even though his adult years were lived out in a series of imprisonment and banishment by decree of Islamic state authorities.
Baha’u’llah, as well as The Bab, taught the radical concept of equality of women (punishable by death at the time), the right to universal education (including females), the end of “holy wars” and violent ‘religious’ crusades, the teaching that all humans had a direct connection to God and were not obligated to seek-or pay for-an ‘intermediary’ (most unpopular at the time.)
Baháʼí Faith is a global monotheistic religion founded in 19th-century Persia (modern-day Iran) by Baháʼu’lláh. It teaches the unity of all people and the essential harmony of all major world religions. Oneness of God: Followers believe in a single, supreme God who guides humanity through various prophets or divine messengers over time.
Light refreshments and socializing will follow the program.
These events will be at the historical Gazzolo building (the community Baha’i Center) located at 5016 Main Street in Coulterville, across from the Coulter Cafe and VFW post. There is never a fee to attend a Baha’i event and we do NOT solicit donations from the public.
