Saturday Yoga and Medication Classes at Coulterville are back! Every Saturday at 2 p.m. in the former Gazzolo Saloon and Dance Hall building at 5016 Main Street.

Yoga movement practice takes place from 2 – 2:45 p.m. followed by Meditation fromĀ 2:50 – 3:20 PM.Ā

The Yoga poses are gentle, slow movements with focus on the breath and use of Yoga props is encouraged. This is also a trauma- informed class which means tactile cues and adjustments from the instructor are minimal, and options for poses are given as well as encouragement for listening to one’s body and experience. Personal space and sovereignty are recognized

The post-yoga meditation sessions are between 25-30 minutes with invitation toward intentions such as loving kindness intention, mindful observing of the breath or focus on quiet equanimity as thoughts & emotions arise.

Meditators have the optionĀ to sit on the couch or their mat or to lay down on the mat and sit up later. Soft Meditation music is played and lights are dimmed. Meditators are free to stay the whole time or to leave quietly if they prefer. All levels of Yoga Practitioners and Meditators are welcome.Ā

Our Saturday Yoga Class in Coulterville is FREE of charge and is made possible by the grant secured by Jim and Nina Rhodes with Operation News Earthy and Yosemite Radio. Veterans are especially invited to join in the yoga class.Ā

Why Yoga followed by Meditation?

The physical body is prepared by gentle, slow and breath-aware movements for a special moment of enlivened calm which can be especially helpful in meditation. When the body has been prepared through our series of gentle, slow yoga movements many people find that the mind will also be prepared for optimal Meditation practice.Ā

This combination of Yoga and Meditation Practice facilitates a state of body-mind- spirit wellness, and can promote inner peace and resilience and a renewed awareness and appreciation for the gift of the present moment. Combined with a regular home practice, the effects can be very healing and transformative.Ā

This class is led by Rosalyn and her husband Jeff Curtis. It’s an honor to share the blessings and benefits of Yoga with the Greeley Hill, Coulterville, Don Pedro and nearby communities.Ā

You are warmly invited to come in comfortable clothes, 1-hour postmeal or empty stomach with your yoga mat and water. There are also yoga mats and yoga props available to borrow for the class.Ā
