The annual Coulterville Easter Egg Hunt and event was everything it was cracked-up to be.

Every year, the Saturday before Easter at 11 a.m. in the Coulterville Community Park, the Coulterville Community Club hosts children of all ages throughout the area to an afternoon of good old family fun.

This year there were more than 60 children who enjoyed the festivities, which included a petting zoo hosted by the popular Lake Don Pedro 4-H Club Rattlers.

Noted local artist, Erica Wolfsen, conducted face painting and officiated the Egg Toss game.

The 4-H club and local gardeners promoted plant exchanges. Children of all ages had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny.

Coulterville’s radio station Yosemite Radio, KNHA, was there with a booth and to cover the event (see photos by station manager and news director Glynn Wilson).

Outgoing Coulterville Community Club president, Shirley Husted, was pleased with the turn out along with her husband Tom Husted, who have been involved in this event “over the past eight years.”

She also thanked the Odd Fellows for their support and assistance with the egg stuffing. Shirley also highlighted that the Community Club is composed of dedicated volunteers residing, or having businesses, within the local area.

Incoming president, Lindsay Burtle, is involved with a variety of local businesses, non-profits, veteran organizations, schools and is Coulterville’s #1 cheerleader who exhibits the energy of a Tasmanian Devil (but in a good way)! Lindsay expressed a joy in how the community club is serving the Coulterville area.

The Easter Bunny assured me that I did not see her at the Super Bowl.

“I’m no bad bunny,” she assured everyone.

I should express sadness from learning that Dale and David Silverman, long time Community Club activists, have plans to leave the area.

David is undoubtedly the funniest of the “wise guys” I have ever met. His wit, humor, knowledge, and ability to be totally politically incorrect sets new standards. No matter how badly I have felt – or depressed over certain situations, I would always be cheered up just by listening, for a few minutes, to David. He has a gift and I truly will miss that. He is also a valued member of our veteran community. The Silverman family have been a true asset to Coulterville. We all we wish you well.
